Asset-backed securities are an interesting alternative for the low yields on bonds

Asset-backed securities (ABS) often offer a higher yield than corporate bonds with a similar risk profile but are not popular with many institutional investors.

Herialt Mens, investment specialist at Aegon Asset Management, believes this could be a missed opportunity for many investors. He also thinks the European Central Bank's inclusion of ABS in its quantitative easing program is another reason for investors to reconsider this often overlooked asset class.
